Sound therapy for tinnitus, in plain language
Tinnitus is your brain filling in a sound that isn't there — often after a stretch of loud noise or hearing change. Playing another gentle sound alongside it (a matched tone, a wash of noise) gives your brain something else to attend to, so the ringing recedes into the background.
Not a medical device.
Hush is a self-serve sound-masking tool, not a treatment. If your tinnitus is new, sudden, one-sided, or paired with hearing loss, dizziness, or pain, please see a hearing professional or doctor. Start at a low volume — sound therapy should feel comfortable, never intrusive.
Getting the most out of Hush
Match the pitch
Drag the pitch slider until the tone sits on top of your tinnitus — the ringing gets harder to notice as the two blend together.
Layer soft noise
Mix in pink or brown noise underneath. Colored noise gives your brain a background to rest on so it stops hunting for the ring.
Keep it comfortable
Sound therapy works better at low volumes, over time. If the sound feels intrusive, turn everything down until it's calm.
Try a timed session
10-, 20- or 60-minute sessions help you use the tool without wearing yourself out. Many people run one at bedtime.
FAQ
+Does Hush cure tinnitus?
No — nothing does, yet. Hush is a sound-masking tool. Consistent, low-volume use over weeks and months has been shown to help many people notice their tinnitus less. It is not a substitute for a hearing evaluation.
+Do I need headphones?
Headphones give the cleanest sound, but Hush works over speakers too. Keep the volume low either way — you should be able to talk over it comfortably.
+Is my data going anywhere?
No account, no server. Presets and session history live only in this browser's storage. Clearing your browser data will remove them.
+Which noise should I pick?
Pink is a good default — softer than white and easy on the ears. Brown works well for lower-pitch tinnitus. Notched noise dips out the frequency band around your pitch, which some people find more restful.
Ready to try it?
Open the player and take two minutes to tune it. That's usually enough to notice the ringing shift.
